Print for Nepal

If you would like to get yourself some fine art and and support people in Nepal in the same time, you can help artist from Art Upfront to rise funds by buying their photographs. A lot of artist, including me, decided to be part of this big effort and donate entire profit from sale of selected photographs to charity. You can see available photographs and contributing artist here.

I am donating one silver gelatine print which you can see bellow. I took this photograph back in 2013 during my winter trip to Norther part of Iceland. It is not very difficult to get to this place, since it is just next to road, but it is quite difficult to get the conditions right. Once, there are too many people around, second time, the sun is shining too much and there is no single cloud on the sky etc. So after couple of visit on location the conditions got perfect for a little moment, cloudy sky, not too much wind and late afternoon darkness spreads over the smoking land. I took one shot with long exposure and it was it, this moment will never be repeated. I am very happy that I have this image in my collection, I was very impressed by special mysterious atmosphere this place has, and I was looking for a way to transfer my feelings to the final photograph. Back home in darkroom it was also quite nice to print this negative, the Fomatone MG paper together with some selenium toning suits this image quite well.

I will print this photograph in my darkroom on Monday next week, and it will be already print number 2 from limited edition of 5 prints.
